WHY WOULD YOU SPEND MONEY TO MARKET YOUR PRODUCT OR SERVICE?

Let’s be honest. The internet as we know it today is the best place in the world to market a service or product. And, most of the information on the internet is geared towards advertising in some way, shape or form. As such, the internet is a fantastic resource for marking nowadays.

There are so many ways to approach a marketing campaign and strategy nowadays. Many of these website owners want to brand their product or service. Some want to increase their Page Rank (PR), some want to show up in the number one position in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs). They want this for two basic reasons:

  1. To increase traffic to their website
  2. To make money.

There are other reasons but for the most part is seems these are the most popular reasons why website owners spend money and time to promote their website/s.

HISTORY OF INERNET MARKETING: A Brief Overview

I won’t labor on this topic except to note that Internet Marketing has advanced in so many ways since its first inception. I hate to admit it, but I can remember the day when you built a website and that was the end of it. There were very little ways of promoting it. Google didn’t exist and Netscape was the browser of choice.

Now it is a full time job promoting a website so that it ranks well with Google. And Google has evolved over time also. Google used to put a high priority on static websites. Then it changed and put more emphasis for example on blogs, forums and dynamic content.

The “population” of the internet today includes approximately 48 billion pages! Google has recently been called the “Semantic Web.” Because it seems, the current trend with Google’s Web 3.0 is focused on Thematic or Latent Behavioral Indexing. This new infrastructure can include ways of searching and indexing the web in a more comprehensively, determining reputation and authority (possibly beyond the link graph and what’s typically thought of as Page Rank). This more involved search should return more relevant results faster.

This current Web 3.0 trend has not been fully implemented as of this date. Let’s look at some of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) practices that have been along for a long time and will continue be a valuable component of SEO.

BUILDING BACKLINKS FOR YOUR WEBSITE: Link Wheel Strategy Explained

It’s common practice for website owners to buy back links. Or, hire someone to do your back linking. This can be a rewarding tactic but it often falls short of the promises made by unscrupulous so called SEO experts. Many of the back link service providers buy their own links and sell them to you.

In addition, these back links often contain no anchor text and are in the wrong categories or themes. Admittedly, these links will have an effect on your website but that effect is often short lived. You will realize that the money you spent was of no value. Google knows these links are from paid linking directories and they take their credit for those links back. Lesson learned.

LINK WHEELS THE EASY WAY: Use High PR to Blast Your Way to the 1st Page of Google

Imagine if you will that you have a bicycle wheel with all the spokes in it coming from its center. A link wheel built for SEO consists then of spokes and a hub. All of these spokes and the hub can be Web 2.0 properties. Each spoke (Web 2.0 property), is linked together in a circular fashion.

The “strength” of the link wheel is determined by the Web 2.0 properties used in the spokes and the Web 2.0 property used in the hub. Note that the hub can also be your website or landing page. If your hub is another Web 2.0 property you would need to link that to your website.

In sum, all of your spokes would be linked together in a circular fashion to each other. Also, each spoke would be linked to your hub. Then your hub would link to your website (if you used a Web 2.0 property).

There a thousands of ways to build a link wheel. You are only limited by your imagination. However, allot of SEO Specialist fail to tell you, is you can use almost any Web 2.0 property in a link wheel. Here are a few that you can try:

  1. Video creation and posting to Youtube.
  2. Writing articles and submitting them to article directories like GoArticles
  3. Using the profile in your Facebook, Friendster or MySpace account
  4. Giving tips and providing information on sites like Ehow and Wikipedia
  5. Using Squidoo Lenses
  6. Using blogs like Blogger.com

Remember that all link wheels must be created with DO FOLLOW Web 2.0 properties. Properties like Squidoo are initially NO FOLLOW. You have to reach a certain status before Squidoo is a do follow. You need to build your lens first and get the points needed “first” before you incorporate it into you link wheel.

This information is meant as a brief overview of what is entailed when building a link wheel. The process is more complex than illustrated here and it can be very time consuming. However, if a link wheel is designed properly it can have huge effect on the SERPS driving massive traffic to your website.

If you decide to hire the services of an SEO Expert make sure you ask them some important questions about link wheels and how they construct them. Remember that if a link wheel is created correctly it will last as long as you want it. With a little maintenance they will continue to drive traffic to your website.
